Track Naming Brainstorm: Flipp's Signature Track 🏁
about 1 month ago – Tue, Oct 15, 2024 at 10:22:41 AM

Alrighty y'all, it's time for the next track overview! 🏁

I've been sharing info on each individual track setup so that you can get a feel for each of them. And once you're familiar with them, it'd be great to hear your name ideas! I've been loving the creative responses I've been getting on these 🖤

I'm looking to have a variety of name types across these tracks. Most of my ideas have been street names, city districts, restaurant/business names, or just something goofy. Here's a few that I've come up with so far: Back Alley Blitz, Trash Heap Highway, Bin Bandit Boulevard, Trash Can Turnpike, Backstreet Bistro, Pigeon Plaza, and Dumpster Diver District

Trash Dash Tracks

So here's how the signature tracks of Trash Dash work.

The six tracks are broken up into two tournament circuits of three races each, Uptown and Downtown. Tracks can vary between 1-4 required laps by using the two double sided lap tracker tiles and can range from 5-12 track tiles. With that structure, tracks can have a variety of setups that offer a unique flavor to each race.

Each of the signature tracks corresponds to one of the six playable critters and leans into that character's specific playstyle. Today we'll be looking at the next track of the Downtown circuit and my personal favorite, Flipp's signature track!

Flipp's Signature Track

7 tiles, 2 laps (28 spaces total). Tiles needed: LT2, SA, 10B, 16A, 9A, 6A, 2B, TA

"Whether you’re looking for Trash cards, extra Action cards, or just a place to hide, Flipp’s versatile track has everything you need!"

While it may be one of the shortest of the bunch, this track is packed tight with all kinds of goodies! This bountiful track is the first to combine all 4 types of special spaces, Trash Cans, Spills, Recycle Bins, and Big Ol' Boxes 🗑⚠️♻️📦

This versatility gives Flipp the ability to adapt his strategy to combat his opponent's in any situation. His "Shiny Pigeon" ability helps him to focus on keeping a strong hand of Action cards, which allows him to stay on top of any shift in the race dynamic.

I'm especially fond of the side by side Spill spaces that give you a nice little boost (or a painful little bump). My favorite move on this track is to hit the Trash Can at the end of the alley for an item, then use "Pigeon Strut" on my next turn to Rest into the double Spill, which puts me into that Recycle Bin. That'll set you up with a Trash card and 6 Action cards for the next turn!

Now that you've got the vibes of this track, what kind of name comes to mind? Let me know in the comments! 🤔🧠⚡️

Track Naming Brainstorm: Jet's Signature Track 🏁

Alrighty y'all, it's time for the next track overview! 🏁

Y'all have shared so many awesome name ideas over the past week and I'm super excited to keep brainstorming with you. It's time to jump into the Downtown circuit

Today we'll be looking at the first track of the Downtown circuit, Jet's signature track!

Jet's Signature Track

5 tiles, 4 laps (40 spaces total). Tiles needed: LT4, SB, 3B, 12A, 10A, TA

"Jet loves nothing more than getting extra speed boosts from Dashing. This short alleyway is perfect to zoom around and the multiple Recycle Bins help you find the matching Action cards you need to keep rolling that dice!"

Speed is the name of the game when you're racing against Jet. With the lowest number of tiles out of the six signature tracks, this track's short punchy laps favor the bold players who push their critter to the limits!

There's only 2 Trash Can spaces, so players who rely heavily on items will have to adapt their strategy. Use the multiple Recycle Bins as mini checkpoints to refresh your hand of Actions cards so that you always have the best options available on your turn and try to time your lap completions wisely to secure a safe turn on the starting line.

Racing 4 laps might sound like a long slog, but this track tends to be one of the snappiest and you might be caught off guard by how quickly an opponent snatches victory!

Now that you've got the vibes of this track, what kind of name comes to mind? Let me know in the comments! 🤔🧠⚡️

Track Naming Brainstorm: Aesop's Signature Track 🏁

With that structure, tracks can have a variety of setups that offer a unique flavor to each race.

Each of the signature tracks corresponds to one of the six playable critters and leans into that character's specific playstyle. Today we'll be looking at the last track of the Uptown circuit, Aesop's signature track!

Aesop's Signature Track

7 tiles, 3 laps (42 spaces total). Tiles needed: LT3, SA, 4A, 15B, 7B, 13A, 3A, TB

"You can never be too cautious when dealing with scrappy street critters! Pair Aesop’s defensive abilities with strategic moves from Box to Box and you might just be able to avoid incoming Attacks from your opponents."

Just like how Penelope's signature track introduced Recycle Bins, this track has the first appearance of the Big Ol' Box spaces! Everything about Aesop leans into defensive play, so it's only natural that his track would feature plenty of these invincibility granting cardboard fortresses.

It takes some strategic playing to pull it off, but it's not too difficult to find your way into a Big Ol' Box almost every turn if you're being intentional. And if you're Aesop, on the turns that you don't make it into a box, any Attacks that come your way will either be weakened with "Tiny Target" or grant you extra Action cards with "Evasive." And you'll notice that even if you're getting pushed backwards, the precisely placed Spill spaces will land you in the safety of yet another box! ⚠️📦

All of this invincibility may make more aggressive players a bit irritated, but there's a price to pay for the players who rely too heavily on the Big Ol' Boxes. If you're only landing on boxes, that means you're not picking up items from Trash Cans and you're probably not Dashing since it decreases the accuracy of your movement. There's a careful balance that must be struck between playing defensively and taking advantage of other gameplay strategies.

This is also the longest of the six track setups, with a total of 42 spaces over the course of 3 laps. It may not sound like a big deal, but that increased length means players will have to pace themselves appropriately if they want to ensure a strong endgame.

Now that you've got the vibes of this track, what kind of name comes to mind? Let me know in the comments! 🤔🧠⚡️

Looking forward to chatting with y'all next week as we look at the three Downtown circuit tracks! 🏁
